More Cupboards...Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Lyle the Cabinet Guy was out on Wednesday and brought the rest of the kitchen cabinets and installed them, as well as the mouldings on the tops and bottoms of the cupboards. He also brought and installed the bathroom vanity cabinet. Originally he had built the bathroom cabinet an inch too big, and when we looked at it when we were there on Wednesday, to us, it looked like he built it an inch too short. Ryan called Lyle and I guess they built it an inch smaller on purpose...not quite sure why...I'm sure there's a good reason though.
Here's the bathroom cabinet.

Here are the kitchen cupboards with the mouldings attached. There are a few spots where they are a bit out, and it will probably drive me crazy, but we'll have to live with it. There's no way that they can fix it so that it looks proper. I'm sure everyone will notice as soon as they walk in...They have had to add on to the bulk head in the kitchen just to make everything look symetrical. It's funny the things you notice once other stuff is put into place.

One thing that had to be built in order for the fridge to fit into the cabinet while allowing the pantry door to open for access was a small 6" cupboard to the right of the fridge. These two cupboards are SOO small, I have no idea what we're going to put there. It's too bad we hadn't mentioned it sooner, because we probably could have had him build us a tall cabinet, all one piece that stuck out as far as the cupboards above the fridge, and we could have used that as a broom closet/cupboard. Oh well. I'm sure we'll figure out something to put in that small area.

Here is what the front yard looks like. That white pointy thing will not be there...I think Dale the Stucco-er left it there and forgot to come and pick it up.

And Ray was there and worked on the front steps. Now all he has to do is put up the "spindles" or whatever you want to call them.

Norm the Painter was there Wednesday as well and sanded down all of the woodwork, so that he can apply more lacquer. I think he has one or two more coats to go. He's supposed to start painting on Monday. I just hope that we can get all the hardwood done by Sunday night, so that he doesn't walk into a mess on Monday.
