After having dinner at Curtis & Crystal's place and laughing with Kohen while he played, we headed out to the house to see what went on during the day.

They took the forms off of the garage footings, and that was it. We're pretty sure that they're just waiting for our bank to give the first payment to their lawyer, and for the bank's inspector to go and take a look at the work they've already done before they continue to do anything more.

Here are a few other pictures I took Wednesday night.

Oh Kohen...

I got an email from Crystal on Wednesday saying that the Aloette orders had arrived, so after work we went to their place to pick up the orders, and ended up staying for supper. After supper, Kohen was riding around on some little car thing, and all of a sudden Curtis says "what's that on the floor?". We were all thinking that maybe Salem peed on the floor or something, and Kohen was rolling through it with the car thing he was on. Upon closer inspection, we noticed that whatever was on the floor was coming out of the tires on the car...or so we thought. Well, I guess Kohen had been eating grapes earlier on that day...and they went right through him...and the diaper...and into the little compartment on the car that he was driving around. As you can see in the picture, Curtis picked him up off of the car and put him into the kitchen sink to wash him off.

After getting all cleaned off, he was running around with no diaper on, although I'm not sure that was the best idea either. Luckily though, there were no more accidents. He decided that he wanted to go outside, so he went and played on the deck. I had closed the patio door and started making faces and putting my mouth to the window and blowing to make my cheeks puff up, and Kohen decided to try the same thing...here's a million pictures of him doing it.

And here's a really good picture of him...not that the ones above aren't great...

And here's one of Lexis. What a pretty girl!

On the way out to the land...wait, Curtis told me that I have to start calling it "the house" now, since it's not just land anymore...

On the way out to the house on Tuesday night, my dad called and wanted to know where we were, because he said that he wanted to come and see the house and what all had been done since the last time they were out. I told him we were on our way there and that we would meet them there.

When we got there, the garage footings had been poured. Everything else looked pretty much the same. We got there, took a few pictures, and then Mom and Dad got there.

Dad - being Dad - decided that he wanted to be the first one to walk on the floor joists, so he just hopped up on the walls and started walking around on the floor joists. The rest of us just shook our heads and laughed. We didn't know HOW we would get him out of the basement if he fell into it...

We went out to the land Monday after work and found that they had started putting the floor joists up, which was pretty exciting. Again, it was pretty windy when we got there, but not as bad as it had been on Saturday. This time when Ryan stood up there he wasn't blown around as much. He got some good pictures of the joists while standing on the wall.

They had also put up the forms for the garage.

Saturday, May 5, 2007

We helped mom and dad unload some doors at the lake on Saturday, and took a drive by the land to see what had happened on Friday, if anything. When we got there, we realized that having no trees around the property and an empty field across from it doesn't block the wind. I couldn't believe how hard the wind was blowing. The only work that had been done on Friday (that we noticed) was that they had capped the top of the basement walls with OSB. I asked Ryan if he could climb onto the walls and take a picture from higher up and he said sure...then we remembered the wind...only after he got up there. It was a funny sight to see him trying to balance on a 5" platform with the winds whipping around him. I was so worried that the wind would pick him up and carry him into the neighbours yard. He did manage to get a few pictures while being knocked around by the wind.

We will be going out there again tonight after work to see what was done. I'll update tomorrow!

PHEW!! Now you're up to date.

We went out to the land last night on the way to an auction in Steinbach, and they had drilled the holes and poured the piles for the garage and the front porch.

We didn't think that anything else was different, until we looked inside the basement walls...

Now the basement doesn't look as big or as far out of the ground. They backfilled up to the grade.

The forms were removed, the tar/sealer applied and there you have it. Our basement walls!
