Well, we made it out to the land just as the sun went down. The trusses are all sitting on top of where they are to be put up, and the front porch supports were put up. The pictures didn't turn out that well of the porch, but you get the idea.

We're hoping to show off the house tonight. We have a few friends and their kids coming over tonight, so we're planning to head out to the house after supper with anyone who wants to go and see it. Thankfully for the guys working on the house, the sun didn't shine for very long today with this heat. I can't imagine what it would be like standing on our roof in 30 degree weather, with the sun beating down. I'd die.

More scenes from our house...

We left work early to go and meet Don Taras, the guy who will be installing our septic tank & field, as well as the geothermal heating system. When we got there at about 3:30, the framers were on their break, so it was pretty quiet. I'm assuming that they go into Lorette for coffee...I hope they don't go to the bar for a drink...lol. Hmmm...that would explain the framing mistake from the beginning of the build...

Anyway, we met with Don who had a few options for us as to where to put the septic field & tank. We talked with Murray the Framer, and found out that they are going to be building the deck/porch on Thursday, and that the trusses for the roof are coming on Thursday too! Don is also our fill/gravel supplier, so he said he would bring in some fill for the front of the house where the porch will be going.

The whole upstairs is now framed completely. Here are some pictures of what we saw Wednesday night.

I can't WAIT to get to the land tonight...although we'll likely be heading there Friday morning before work, since we're going on a date with Toon tonight to see the most recent David Lynch film "Inland Empire"...it's a 3 hour movie, which starts at 7:00 p.m. which means that we won't get out of there until at least 10, and there will be no light for us to see the house let alone take pictures. Who am I kidding...we'll likely go out there tonight anyway...

The second floor walls are now up...the exterior ones, anyway. Ryan's the only one out of the two of us that can actually get up onto the second floor. When the framer leaves, he chains his long ladder up in the basement so no one can steal it, and only leaves a short, stubby ladder there so that we can get into the house. Ryan is the only adventurous one, so he just puts the short ladder against a wall and climbs up onto the second floor. I can't wait until the stairs are in.
Here's the monkey, getting up onto the second floor:

And me, wishing that I could be up there too:

My Uncle Miles was in town so last night we went out to Montana's for dinner, and then took him by Geoff & Laura's house in Transcona (they're moving in next Monday), and then out to our house. When we got there, we were floored...second floored...YES!!! Glen, that was for you again.

They got the second floor floors up, and there was a generator attached to a pump in the basement pumping all the water out of our sump pit. There was quite a bit of water on the floors inside the house, but hopefully the sun and the wind will dry it up quickly. I imagine that we're going to have that problem until they get the roof on...hopefully that happens soon, but it likely won't...we need to wait for the porch to be done before the roof can go up, and before the porch can be done, we have to get some fill in to put under where the porch will be. Before we can get the dirt in there, they have to move all their crap that's in front of where the porch will go. Oh, and the ground will have to be dry so that they can drive up to the house to dump the dirt. Ryan is getting frustrated because he wants the ground to dry so that we can get the well and septic tank/field put in. Hopefully the weather in the next week will cooperate with us...
Here are pictures of what we saw when we went last night.
