Saturday night we had terrible winds and rain where we live right now, and we were really worried about our house. We actually had to go into the basement because the winds were blowing so hard...better to be safe than sorry. The power was out at this point as well, so we were sitting in the basement in the dark with a little flashlight, and whatever light was coming in through the basement windows from the lightening. When we were in the basement, I called my mom and dad's place to make sure that the answering machine picked up...signaling that they still had power. If it didn't pick up, we knew that we would probably have to go there to check on things. There wasn't any damage at home that night, but we decided that Sunday morning we would get up and go to the house to see what had happened, if anything.

Sunday morning came around and we knew we had to be in the city for 9:30 for Colton's baptism and since we wanted to go to the house first, we figured that if we left the house by 8:15, we would be back to the city in good time. We called my mom and dad at the lake at about 7:15 (I told Ryan that they would be awake...and they were) to see if they had anything happen up there, and they said no. Dad asked if we would go over to his place and check it out, just to make sure nothing was damaged and to make sure the power was on. We basically threw on some clothes and headed out the door for the day at about 7:45ish.

When we got to the house, the only thing that I noticed was that a little orange chair had been blown over, and a few 2x6's were laying on the ground outside the front of the garage. I took a couple of pictures of that stuff. We went inside, and looked around there, and found that the only thing that fell down was a homemade stand that was holding 2x4's. There was nothing else that was wrong. When we got to the ladder inside the garage, I looked out and said "OH MY GOD, Ryan! Two trusses fell off the garage roof!!" He kind of looked at me funny and said "Didn't you notice that when we walked in?" I told him that I didn't, that I just noticed the 2x6's and the orange chair...to which he replied "you didn't realize that we had to walk all the way around the two trusses that fell instead of going the way we usually go??". I hadn't. I don't know how I missed it, but I did. We had a good laugh. Later, as we were going to my parent's place, I think my eyes were broken, because I saw a bunch of white cows huddled together, and I thought they were all dead and laying on top of each other, and then I looked and said "Holy Ryan! Look at that tree! It's ripped right out!!". Ya, it was a fence. And it was exactly where it was supposed to be. I don't know what was wrong with me!

Here's some pictures of the "damage" that day. This is the first look at the "damage". Apparently I didn't notice Ryan staring up at the trusses...I only saw the few 2x6's out front...

And here's one of the chair that I noticed...Notice that it's just at the foot of the trusses that fell...I also didn't clue in yet that Ryan was STILL checking out the trusses...

Here is the homemade stand that fell over.

This is when I finally realized the two trusses had fallen off of the garage roof into the garage.

What an idiot I am...I still can't believe I didn't notice them until this point...
