And lots of it.
Last July, we hit the jackpot when we got 1000 square feet of gym flooring from Tec Voc School...at $1 per square foot. We had previously gotten gym flooring from College Jean Sauve for Ryan's mom's house, for Ryan's brother's place, and for Mom & Dad's cabin for the same price. The flooring from College Jean Sauve was newer and about 3/4 inch thick, where the stuff that we got out of Tec Voc is probably as old as the school, and an inch thick. We've been spending most of our evenings & weekends (when we get the chance) out in the garage, cleaning the tongue and groove on the pieces of hardwood. When we were cleaning the stuff for Ryan's mom's place, we thought it was pretty dirty...now that we're cleaning our stuff, we realize that you could have probably eaten off the other flooring compared to this stuff.
We need about 700 square feet for the house, and we've cleaned about 350 square feet so far. We're planning to put hardwood in the dining room, the entry way, the hallway to the mudroom/basement stairs, and in the livingroom.
Here's a few pictures of the wood:
