Thursday started out not too bad. We got up, got ready for work, got into the car, and went to work. On the way to work, the car wasn't acting up the way it was the night before on the way home, so we thought that was good. We had decided that we were still going to take it in though, just to have it looked at. We had just taken it in on Monday because it was overheating, and they had just replaced the thermostat about 2 months or so earlier. When we got it back on Monday night, they had said that the coolant was low, and that there was possibly a leak, but that he couldn't find anything. There was talk that it might be the head gasket...He put some dye in the coolant, and we were supposed to bring it back either Thursday or Friday for them to check with a black light to see if there was a leak or not...So Thursday morning we brought the car to the shop.
We had also been waiting for our lights to come in for over a month now. We ordered them from a place online (http://www.bellacor.com/) on August 13th, and had been waiting ever since. Well, the lights finally came yesterday. They were supposed to be delivered on Wednesday, but apparently just putting 185 Smith Street as the street address wasn't good enough for them, because they didn't figure out that it was the main floor office where it was supposed to be delivered. Anyway, I called UPS, told them that it was the main floor office, and she said that she would schedule the delivery for Thursday. I waited all morning, and almost all afternoon, until 3:00, when they finally arrived. We paid about $700 for eight lights (i know, crazy!) and then on top of that, I had to pay UPS $210 for gst/pst, brokerage fees, and duty. Ya, we'll probably think twice about buying lights online...I was so MAD when I had to pay that. But of course, I just paid it...I'm not one to say too much...The lights were here, and they looked good, and that was all that mattered at that point. Oh, the other reason that the $210 bothered me, was because we found out what the car was going to cost us...$1750...Ryan got them down to $1500, since we had already been in there about a month ago and dropped $1500 on the same car...Somehow we need to get transit buses from the country to the city...
After that shock for the price of the car and the extra for the lights, we had to get Ryan's mom to pick us up at work, since we didn't have a vehicle. She picked us up, we went to a couple of stores, and then headed out to the house to see if finally there was a basement floor...
AND THERE WAS!!!
There was lots of stuff done today. Well, it looked like a lot. The basement was poured, and the guys were still working on it when we got there at about 6:30. We couldn't take any pictures, because we didn't want to go downstairs and bother them, and they had a heating unit blocking the stairs. We're probably going to go out to the house Friday morning to take some pictures, before anyone gets there. We won't walk on it until Friday night though, just to be safe.
The other thing that was done, was the pillars were built, and they are huge! I love them!! I'm really glad that we didn't go with 4 pillars though...it would have been way too much. Here they are, in all their glory:
The wood capping was also installed on the half-walls:
And the wine rack and shelves were built and installed in the 4 half-walls that we have in the house (2 in the diningroom and 2 in the livingroom):

I can't wait to get out there Friday morning to take pictures of the basement floor!
