Sooner Than We Thought - Thursday, November 8, 2007

I got an email from Ryan on Thursday telling me that he called Lyle to find out about the plumbers. When Ryan called him and Lyle answered, Ryan asked if he had a minute to talk...and Lyle said "sure, just make it quick, I'm in New York". Must be nice! Anyway, Ryan asked him if the plumber was going to be out on Thursday, because we'd been at the house all week and there was no plumbing done. Lyle said that he must have gotten tied up somewhere, and that he wasn't going to be coming to the house to do any work until after the counter tops are installed. When I saw that in the email I freaked. I couldn't believe that A - Lyle wouldn't have told us that the plumber wouldn't be there until after the counter tops were installed, and B - That the plumber wasn't going to be there until after the counter tops were installed, since they were supposed to take 5 weeks to be installed.

I replied to the email with my displeasure about what I had just read, and Ryan didn't reply for quite a while. When he finally did reply, he said that he had known what my reaction to the first email would be, so as a preventative measure, he called the granite place to find out how long it would take for the counter tops to be installed, and explained that the plumber wasn't going to go into the house until after they were finished installing the counter tops. He was talking to the president of the company, who told him that since Monday was a holiday for some people that they would be out to install the counters on either Tuesday or Wednesday. And by Tuesday or Wednesday, I mean NEXT WEEK!!! Five weeks my A$$!! I don't know if Lyle told them to tell us that it would take 5 weeks, or if they just tell everyone 5 weeks just in case something goes wrong, but at this point, I'm so excited that they're will be installed sometime next week, that I don't care. WOO HOO!! After that, all we have to wait for is the plumber, the carpeting, and the cleaners! Which means that no matter what, I will be moving stuff in on the weekend of November 24th. Come Hell or high snow, we will be moving stuff in that weekend.

We're going to go and put up the Christmas lights and the satellite dish this weekend, since it sounds like it's going to be a nice weekend to do it (they're forcasting +8 for Sunday - that will be good weather for those going to the Bomber game). We'll also probably spread the straw on the septic field, and put up the driveway reflectors.

On Friday morning, Paul the Floor Refinisher is going out to the house to start his work. Hopefully he'll be done by this weekend, and won't run into any problems.

Here are some before pictures of the dining room floor and the entry way floor. I forgot to take pictures of the living room floor, but trust me, it looks much the same.
