The Baby's Room

So I've decided to get creative with the baby's room. Well...sort of. More like over-ambitious with the baby's room. A couple of weekends ago, Ryan and I painted the baby's room a very bright green. Yes, the baby will be able to sleep, but thanks to the two people that have already commented on that...you have to see the colour in person to see that it's not as bright as the pictures make it out to be.
I decided that I didn't want to decorate the room with anything "mainstream", like Winnie the Pooh or Mickey Mouse or anything like that (not that there's anything wrong with those themes, it's just not my taste), and decided that I wanted to do my decorating based on the Mr. Men/Little Miss books by Roger Hargreaves. Ryan had most of the books growing up and I remembered them from my childhood as well, though my mom wasn't sure if we actually had any of the books or not. I decided that I would take the books and pick a few characters and paint them onto the walls. A few ended up turning into 50, and we started this past long weekend.

Ryan was my organizer. I had no idea where I was going to start, or how I was going to get started. Luckily for me, Ryan was there to get me started. He suggested that we use a projector to project the image onto the wall and trace it in pencil, and then paint over the traces afterwards. We projected one image onto the wall, Mr. Bump, and got him to the size we wanted, and then Ryan grabbed 50 pieces of scrap paper, made the paper the same size and Mr. Bump, and wrote down the names of each of the 50 characters that we were going to use, as well as their colour. I then taped the papers to the wall until I had all of the characters where I wanted them, and from there we made a few tweaks and were able to begin tracing.

Ryan was also documenting the progress of each character by taking pictures at different stages while I was painting them. He was very good when it came to organizing me and taking pictures, but he said that he didn't want to help with the painting part because he has no skills. Mad skills, he says.

I've also decided that I'm going to post the pictures as we go along, because I'm proud of how good the things have turned out...so basically, I'm patting myself on the back.

Here are the pictures so far. 4 down, 46 more to go...
